connectBlue makes available several product configuration methods in order to facilitate for customers to easily configure devices on their own. If you want to get started smoothly and also get an idea of the configuration possibilities, have a look at the introductory videos on the connectBlue YouTube channel.
Below, we will introduce you to the following options:
- connectBlue Serial Port Toolbox
- connectBlue SMART Configuration
- connectBlue Web Interface Configuration
- AT Commands
- SNMP Protocol
connectBlue Serial Port Toolbox
The connectBlue Serial Port Toolbox is a Windows-based application that simplifies the configuration of a connectBlue serial port module or serial port adapter by adding a graphical user interface to the AT commands that are used for the Serial Port Modules’ configuration. The toolbox program can be downloaded from the connectBlue support site. On each individual product on the support site, you can find a Getting Started document which covers Classic Bluetooth, Bluetooth low energy and WLAN serial communication configuration.
You need to connect your serial port module / serial port adapter to the PC where you have the Serial Port Toolbox installed. The Serial Port Adapter RBS433 connects to the PC via a RS232 serial port. As for the serial port modules, most easily, you would attach your product to the SPA Accessory Kit USB cB-ACC-41 or SPA Accessory Kit RS232 cB-ACC-26. These adapter board kits can be ordered separately or as Starter Kits bundled with each individual serial port module.

connectBlue SMART Configuration
The connectBlue Bluetooth Access Point and Bluetooth / WLAN Ethernet Port Adapters can be configured via the so called SMART configuration method which is an easy push-button method used directly onto the products once they are connected to a power outlet and the LAN network. By pressing the MODE button one of the pre-defined configuration modes is selected, indicated by the four LEDs. For instructions on the combinations to use for individual products, please follow the guidelines on the products’ Quick Setup Guide is available on the support site.

All connectBlue products can be configured via AT Commands . This method is mainly for more advanced settings and use cases or when you want to control the configuration via your own microcontroller. Documentation is covered in AT Command Specification documents on the individual products’ support page on the support site. To send AT commands to the device from a PC, use a terminal program for example HyperTerminal. You can also use the Console window in the Serial Port Adapter Toolbox.
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an Internet standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks and can be used for the connectBlue Bluetooth Access Point and Bluetooth / WLAN Ethernet Port Adapters. To learn more how SNMP is used please contact connectBlue support.
